I remember being very little and just being surrounded by sadness. Being a highly sensitive child I would feel everyone’s emotions all around me and get confused at times whether they were mine or theirs. Most of the time I took complete ownership of their feelings, I would manage to lose myself in the emotional vibrations of others. We truly are influenced by others around us and it’s that awareness that can help you understand yourself and how you truly feel.
Let’s look at it in this perspective: Imagine everyday being told your stupid, ugly, fat and nobody loves you. Imagine someone yelling at you, telling you this from when you were a child until now. Would you understand that the only reason someone would say something like that to you (as a child) is that they hated themselves? Most likely not. You would adopt this belief and then become your own version of self hate.
The problem is, peoples’ thoughts vibrate just as loud as someone yelling in your face. Your toxic thoughts leave imprints in rooms, because it holds a frequency in which some of us are so sensitive to that we pick up on that frequency, and then adopt the thought as our own. A perfect example of “feeling vibration” is when you walk into a room and can feel tension between two people or it’s the same when we walk into a room and leave with a headache, completely drain or have obsessive thoughts.
We all have self -hating thoughts and some are so common to us that we just let it spiral out of control. Just imagine telling a child all your negative talk , and just watching that child deflate before your eyes. Now picture that child existing within you, living in your body, feeling every experience, every emotion and on top of that listening to your self hate. We have been programmed to ignore ourselves and push against ourselves. No wonder we have no love for ourselves, the worst part during this experience is that we tend to seek love from others or use exterior or material things to make us feel good.
The journey to self-love isn’t about positive focus its about getting real about what’s going on within yourself. It’s not a story, it’s knowing why you feel what you feel and how you can validate your feelings. It’s about exploring yourself and trying to like yourself and catching the minute you say something awful about yourself. Visualize that inner child getting some love!
Stop trying to avoid yourself, you can change your physical appearance, you can travel the world, make a lot of money , have a ton of friends and still feel alone and hate yourself because feelings are indicators of what needs healing.
We live in a world right now where people are getting worse with themselves, my advice, be honest with yourself. If you are highly sensitive stop blaming others for being sensitive and do yourself a favour walk away from toxic environments and situations, show yourself some kindness. Don’t drink or do anything that can compromise your body.
As for creating self -love, watch your ego because going around and using power as self love is ignorance; the truth is you’re using that as a coping mechanism for getting hurt. Self -love is about boundaries, taking time for yourself , healing, awareness, being honest, learning to trust yourself, focusing on yourself, walking away from drama and watching the way you speak to yourself. Your inner child is asking you to pay attention, so start from there and build your process of self love.
