With the holiday season just around the corner, here my tips so you can cope. We all need to take some extra care of ourselves!
Budget
During the holiday season we feel more festive and therefore may spend more than we need to. This is a result of feeling lonely. It is important that we budget in accordance to our everyday expenses.
In the new year, we look at our bank or credit card statement and our stomach turns with the thought of what we spent! Who wants to start off the new year broke and paying off debt?
Budget in accordance so that in the new year you are focused on saving and moving ahead. Get creative with your gift giving, think budget!
Family
Our families can be triggers for us. The holidays can make us feel guilty and in a state of avoidance. It takes one comment from a family member to bring your confidence down. It is very important to check in with yourself. You do not need to justify who you are. Families tend to look at us through their perspectives and can stay stuck in who they think you are. They may still think you are that irresponsible teenager. It is time to own who you are and let them be. You know that you have grown and are in a better state. Family members may not understand your journey. You do not need validation.
Overindulging
Triggers may bring up feelings of sadness making us feel uncomfortable around the holiday season, do your best to stay on track. Take the time to do yoga to calm yourself, meditate, workout and eat balanced meals. Reduce your caffeine intake and alcohol. We overindulge because we do not feel fulfilled or satisfied.
Loss
Grief is a process and sometimes it may take years to heal and that is ok. Holidays can trigger the loss of a loved one(s). Try shifting the perspective by welcoming their spirit into your holidays. Think of the foods they would love, the decor or even just light a candle in remembrance of them. Write a letter or journal your feelings about the grief and loss.
Year end reflections and new intentions
Try your best not to get down on yourself for not accomplishing what you set out in the last year. You have done your best. We always start setting intentions as the year ends. This year try your best to focus on healing and set the goal that everything will align to that. This would include, healing your finances, your health, your life purpose and more. It is more realistic to set the intention that you are on a journey versus setting goals and then giving up mid year.
Anxiety and Depression
Around the holidays it is normal to feel sad and alone. Some may suffer more with depression. If you are triggered your anxiety can really take a toll on you. Make sure you are sleeping well, drinking enough water, taking breaks, eating well, meditating or going out in nature. If you need the added support ask for help.
Here is a prayer to calm your soul and help you cope:
A Prayer for Peace of Mind
Almighty God, We bless you for our lives,
we give you praise for your abundant mercy and grace we receive.
We thank you for your faithfulness even though we are not that faithful to you.
Lord Jesus, we ask you to give us all around peace in our mind, body, soul and spirit.
We want you to heal and remove everything that is causing stress, grief, and sorrow in our lives.
Please guide our path through life and make our enemies be at peace with us.
Let your peace reign in our family,at our place of work, business and everything we lay our hands on.
Let your angels of peace go ahead of us when we go out and stay by our side when we return. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
A Prayer to Heal Stress
Heavenly Father, please grant me peace of mind
and calm my troubled heart. My soul is like
a turbulent sea. I can’t seem to find my balance
so I stumble and worry constantly. Give me the
strength and clarity of mind to find my purpose
and walk the path you’ve laid out for me. I trust
your Love God, and know that you will heal this stress.
Just as the sun rises each day against the dark of night.
I won’t feel guilty anymore… In my workshop on Sunday I was talking to the group of beautiful souls about guilt and how guilt is a cry for people’s love. We feel terrible when we want to do what we desire out of fear that people will be upset or not approve. The reality is …
The constant need to “should” yourself is what people-pleasing is all about. Should I prioritize someone else’s happiness before my own? Should I go above and beyond motivating and helping others get ahead? Should I say yes to everyone’s demands? How are you doing you? The fact is, do you! “I should help…” is the …
Not everyone is meant to be an entrepreneur, some of us are already doing what we are meant to be doing, but the stress of others being unhappy and the idea of the rat cage, leaves people feeling confused. People may feel like, should I hate my job, should I too consider leaving my 9-5? …
